What Happens on a ₹299 Visit

Independent multi brand repair service. We are not an authorised service centre for any brand and we are not associated with any manufacturer. Full disclaimer at the end of this page.

Our doorstep visit and full diagnosis is a flat ₹299, and that amount comes off your final bill if you go ahead with the repair. No percentage, no call out fee on top, no charge per appliance category. This page sets out exactly what happens at each stage, what you pay if you decide not to proceed, and what the 30 day warranty covers.

One flat visit charge, one diagnosis, one quote before anything is opened up.

What the ₹299 covers

One technician, to your door, with tools, for a full diagnosis of one appliance. That includes the travel, the time spent testing, and a clear explanation of what is wrong and what it will cost to put right.

It is the same ₹299 whether the appliance is a fridge, a washing machine or a microwave oven, and whether you live five minutes from our Birati workshop or at the far edge of our service area. There is no separate call out fee and no distance surcharge.

The part people most often ask about: if you go ahead with the repair, the ₹299 is adjusted into the final bill. It is not an extra charge on top of the repair price. You are not paying twice.

Booking the visit

Call or send a message with four things: the appliance, the brand, roughly what it is doing, and your area. Those four let us send someone carrying the parts most likely to be needed, which is often the difference between a one visit repair and a two visit one.

If there is an error code on the display, tell us the code exactly as it appears. A good number of codes can be narrowed down before anyone travels, and occasionally we can tell you over the phone that it is something you can clear yourself without a visit at all.

Most bookings are attended the same day. Where the area or the hour makes that impractical we will say so when you call rather than leaving you waiting.

When the technician arrives

He will ask you to describe the problem in your own words before touching the appliance, including when it started and whether anything changed around that time. A power cut, a house shift, a recent cleaning, a new detergent. These details regularly point at the answer faster than the testing does.

Then he needs access: space to pull the appliance out, a working socket nearby, and the drain and tap accessible for a washing machine. Clearing that beforehand saves time.

The diagnosis

Testing runs from the cheap and common toward the expensive and rare, not the other way round. On a fridge that means settings, seal, airflow and coils before anyone opens the sealed system. On a washing machine it means the filter, the hose and the switches before anyone discusses a board. On a microwave it means confirming the oven genuinely is not heating before the cabinet is opened at all.

This order matters to you financially. Working backwards from the most expensive component is how people end up paying for parts they never needed.

Testing, not guessing. The cheap and common causes get ruled out before the expensive ones are discussed.

The quote, and your decision

Once the fault is identified you get told three things: what has failed, what it costs to put right, and whether it can be done today. That price covers parts and labour and it is the price you pay. It is not an estimate that moves later.

We do not quote a figure before that point, and we will not do it over the phone either. What a repair costs depends on the fault, the parts used, the brand and the condition of the machine, so we quote only after the technician has seen it.

Nothing is opened up, removed or replaced until you say go ahead. If you want time to think, or to get another quote, that is a reasonable thing to want and the technician will leave it with you.

Where there is a genuine choice, you get told about it. Repairing a control board against replacing it, for instance, or an honest view on whether an older appliance is worth the money at all. If a repair is not worth doing we would rather say so on the visit.

If you decide not to repair

You pay the ₹299 and nothing else. No pressure, no cancellation charge, no inflated figure to make the visit feel worthwhile.

You also keep the diagnosis. You will know what is wrong with the appliance, which is useful whether you take it elsewhere, decide to replace it, or come back to us later. If you do come back for the same fault within a reasonable period, tell us and we will not charge a second visit fee to re diagnose what we have already diagnosed.

When a part has to go to the workshop

Most repairs are finished in the home on the same visit. Some are not, and the two usual reasons are honest ones.

Control board work. Repairing a board at component level needs a bench and test equipment. The board comes out, goes to the Birati workshop, gets repaired and tested under load, and is refitted on a second visit. There is no extra visit charge for bringing it back.

A part not carried on the van. We carry the common ones, but not every part for every model. If something has to be sourced, you will be told how long it is likely to take before you commit to the repair.

The 30 day warranty

Every repair we complete carries a 30 day repair warranty. If the same fault comes back within that window, we return and put it right at no further charge.

Replaced parts often carry longer cover than that, and the length depends on the part. The technician will tell you what applies to your specific job and it is written on your invoice. Keep the invoice, because that is what the warranty runs against.

What the warranty does not cover is a different fault that appears later, or damage from something outside the repair such as a power surge or physical knock. That is the normal limit on any repair warranty and we would rather be clear about it upfront than argue about it later.

The job sheet records the fault, the parts used and the date the warranty starts. You keep a copy of it.

Where we cover

Our workshop is at 7A/1 Nilachal Road, Birati, North Dumdum. From there we reach Birati, Dum Dum, Madhyamgram, Sodepur and the surrounding North Kolkata areas quickly, usually the same day.

We cover a wider part of Kolkata than that, so it is worth asking about your area even if it is not on that list. What we will not do is promise a same day visit to somewhere we cannot reach in time. If the honest answer is tomorrow morning, we will say tomorrow morning.

Questions people ask us

Is the Rs 299 charged on top of the repair cost?

No. If you go ahead with the repair, the Rs 299 is adjusted into your final bill rather than added to it. You only pay it as a standalone charge if you decide not to proceed with the repair.

What if I decide not to go ahead with the repair?

You pay the Rs 299 visit charge and nothing else. There is no cancellation fee and no pressure to proceed. You keep the diagnosis, so you know what is wrong with the appliance whichever way you go from there.

Can the repair be finished on the same visit?

Most are. The technician carries the parts most commonly needed for the appliance and fault you described when booking, which is why those details help. Control board repairs usually need the board taken to our workshop and refitted on a second visit, and there is no extra visit charge for that. If a part has to be sourced you will be told the likely timeline before you commit.

What does the 30 day warranty actually cover?

If the same fault returns within 30 days of the repair, we come back and put it right at no further charge. Replaced parts often carry longer cover than 30 days depending on the part, and the technician will confirm what applies to your job and note it on the invoice. The warranty does not cover a different fault appearing later or damage from outside the repair, such as a power surge.
